Japanese baseball legend Nagashima dies at 89

Yomiuri Giants manager Shigeo Nagashima is tossed in the air by team members at Tokyo Dome after the Central League baseball team won the Japan Series on Oct. 29, 1994. Nagashima, who was a key player on the Giants team that won nine consecutive Central League and Japan Series titles from 1965 to 1973 and later managed the club, died on June 3, 2025, aged 89.
